Annual Meeting Participants Successfully Record Choice for Presenting in San Diego or Virtually On November 1, when acceptance notices went out to 2022 Annual Meeting participants, they were asked to determine whether they wished to participate place-based in San Diego or on the virtual platform. Annual Meeting Registration Opens January 11 As announced on December 20, registration for the AERA 2022 Annual Meeting will now open on Tuesday, January 11. This change will provide ample time for AERA to work with its vendors to implement and test the COVID vaccination requirement, incorporate use of AERA member/user ID as the universal ID across Annual Meeting functions, and allow for a seamless single sign-on for Annual Meeting attendees. AERA Members to Receive Free Electronic Access to All AERA Journals Beginning in 2022 Starting in January, AERA will provide all members with free electronic access to its entire suite of journals, reducing its carbon footprint and providing members much more content. Read more

AERA Announces Fourth Cohort of Deeper Learning Fellows AERA has selected six new fellows for the AERA Fellowship Program on the Study of Deeper Learning. The early career scholars joining this highly competitive program will conduct research using the American Institutes for Research Study of Deeper Learning data set. Read more
Legislation to Boost Investment in Science Agencies Advances on Capitol Hill On November 17, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced a bicameral agreement to move consideration of the United States Investment and Competition Act to conference between the House and Senate. National Science Board Examines “Uneven” Geography of K–12 STEM Education On December 8–9, the National Science Board held its most recent quarterly meeting. NSB establishes policies for the National Science Foundation and also serves as an independent body of advisors to the president and Congress on science and engineering policy. Read more
NSF SBE Advisory Committee Holds Fall Meeting and Discusses Updates on America’s Data Hub Consortium The National Science Foundation Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences Advisory Committee met December 2–3. Along with a packed agenda, the meeting also served as a send-off for SBE Assistant Director Arthur (Skip) Lupia, whose term is ending. Read more
