NSF Proposal/Award Information Guidance on Financial Assistance (Comments Due August 24) The National Science Foundation (NSF) is seeking comment on proposed Proposal/Award Information Guidance on Financial Assistance, which would replace the current Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide. The draft guidance is available for review, and comments should be submitted through Regulations.gov.
Reducing Federal Burden for Head Start Programs (Comments Due October 6) The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would rescind and replace the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Comments may be submitted through Regulations.gov.
National Assessment Governing Board Opens Nominations September 8 (Nominations Due November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET) The National Assessment Governing Board will begin accepting nominations on September 8 for eight open positions with four-year terms beginning October 1, 2027. The positions include 12th-grade teacher, curriculum specialist, business representative, general public representative, testing and measurement expert, state school board member, local superintendent, and chief state school officer. Nomination requirements and submission instructions are available on the NAGB website.

Multi-Organization Letter to Congressional Appropriations Leadership Urging Block on OMB Rule (July 30) AERA joined 82 organizations on a letter to House and Senate Appropriations leaders to urge Congress to stop the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) from implementing its proposed revisions to the Uniform Guidance, or any substantially similar policy.
