Ikeda Center Education Fellows Program: Call for Proposals
Established in 2007, the Ikeda Center Education Fellows Program honors the educational legacy of global peacebuilder and Buddhist philosopher Daisaku Ikeda, and aims to advance research and scholarship on the internationally growing field of Ikeda/Soka studies in education. This field coheres around historical, conceptual, and empirical scholarship on the philosophies and practices not only of Ikeda but also of educators Josei Toda and Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, as well as the sōka, or “value-creating,” approaches they have enacted and inspired worldwide.
Fellows will be eligible for two years of funding at $10,000 per year to support doctoral dissertations in the field of Ikeda/Soka studies in education, including its relation to the philosophy and practice of education more generally. We invite a wide range of approaches, including dissertation research that examines intrinsic and extrinsic dimensions of Ikeda/Soka studies in education.

Call for Proposals for Teaching Educational Research Methods (TERM)
Special Issue: Teaching Quantitative Research Methods from Day 1: Where do I start?
Description:
We are inviting proposals for a special issue on strategies that experienced educational research faculty use in the beginning of a course to decrease statistics anxiety and/or increase motivation for an introductory research methods course. Introductory research courses can include statistics, data science, psychometrics, or a general course with quantitative and qualitative concepts.
Proposal: In no more than 500 words, proposals should describe (1) a strategy, tool, or perspective used by the author(s), (2) the course context (type of course, scope of course, relevant student demographics), and (3) a description of the evidence that will be used to support the strategy or tool’s use (either literature or the authors’ own evidence).
Proposals due (500 words) by November 15, 2026
Draft manuscripts due by June 1, 2027
The full papers will be limited to 4,000-6,000 words, not inclusive of references, tables, and figures.

New Funding Alert!
Join the growing community of researchers and educators working in partnership with digital learning platforms to advance theory and math education.
The AIMS EduData Initiative is soliciting projects with grants of up to $50,000 to run experiments with a digital learning platform to uncover new insights into math education. By working with either Teachley Math or RightOn Education, researchers can investigate data that provides potential insights into the processes of student motivation, engagement, persistence, and math learning.
We especially invite early career researchers and educators, including tenure-track faculty, postdocs, graduate students, researchers within non-profit organizations, district staff with research roles, and researchers located at minority serving institutions or Title I schools to apply.

RFI for new California Teaching Performance Assessment
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is issuing an RFI as it explores the development of a new Commission Teaching Performance Assessment model. The new model will be embedded in educator preparation, organized around an instructional cycle, modular in design, adaptable across credential areas, capable of supporting both developmental feedback and formal readiness determinations, and supported by secure technology, calibrated scoring, useful reporting, candidate and program supports, and appropriate assessment integrity safeguards. We invite scholars who have completed a multimodal dissertation to apply to have their work featured in the third volume of the MODES Multimodal Dissertation exhibit.
MODES is an annual exhibit created by the design and research teams of the Digital Futures Institute at Teachers College, Columbia University. The showcase examines the innovative ways scholars connect research, practice, and audience through creative multimodal dissertations. If your work is selected, our design and research team will create an interactive piece that highlights a key aspect of your dissertation. Because each dissertation is complex and unique, we highlight a single aspect of your work, respond to it, and aim to make this element interactive for visitors.
The MODES exhibit also serves as a backdrop for both a panel and interview video series in which authors share their process and approach. The exhibit and videos serve as a growing archive for the multiple forms scholarship is explored. Here are the first two volumes of MODES representing 10 of the author artist works showcased in the DFI Gallery.

The exhibit is expected to open in late November 2026 with the panel and video series following soon after.
