AERA Journals

JSTOR® Online Archives

Now Available!

AERA is pleased to offer online access to the AERA journal archive -- including full-text search capabilities -- to members through a joint project with JSTOR. Access may be purchased at the low subscription price of $40 a year and is available only to current AERA members.

Journals in JSTOR have "moving walls" that define the time lag between the most current issue published and the content available in JSTOR. AERA journals have a three year “moving wall.” This means that the most recent issues available to AERA member JSTOR subscribers are from three years ago. The “moving wall” shifts each January when new issues are posted.

Subscribers have access to:

Educational Researcher (1972-current year minus three)
American Educational Research Journal (1964-current year minus three)
Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis (1979-current year minus three)
Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics (1976-current year minus three)
Review of Educational Research (1931-current year minus three)
Review of Research in Education (1973-current year minus three)

What is JSTOR?
In the broadest sense, JSTOR's mission is to help the scholarly community take advantage of advances in information technologies. In pursuing this mission, JSTOR has adopted a system-wide perspective, taking into account the sometimes conflicting needs of libraries, publishers, and scholars. JSTOR's goals include, among other things, building a reliable and comprehensive archive of important scholarly journal literature, and dramatically improving access to these journals

Through the moving wall, JSTOR seeks to avoid jeopardizing publishers' subscriptions and revenue opportunities from current and recent material, while also enabling libraries and researchers to rely on JSTOR as a trusted archive, providing both preservation and access for journals after a reasonable period of time. It is specified by publishers in their license agreements with JSTOR, and generally ranges from three to five years. In calculating the moving wall, the current, incomplete year is not counted.
