September 2025
On September 25, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET, AERA will hold an informational webinar on the 2026–2027 Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research. Register for the webinar here.
The fellowship supports graduate students from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in education research—including, but not limited to, African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiians or Pacific Islanders. Applications are due November 10.
The program is designed to advance education research by outstanding graduate students, enhance their competitiveness for academic appointments at major research universities, and support completion of their doctoral studies. Fellows receive mentoring, capacity-building opportunities, and guidance throughout their research.
The webinar will be led by George L. Wimberly, AERA Director of Professional Development and Diversity Officer. It will cover the fellowship’s objectives, application process, and key details about the competition. The session will be recorded and made available on the AERA website after the event.
Full details on the Minority Dissertation Fellowship, including application instructions and frequently asked questions, is available in the Call for Proposals.
