The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), a searchable, Internet-based bibliographic and full-text database of education research and information first established in 1964 and enhanced and maintained by the Institute of Education Sciences has just released a six-month report on the period January 1 through June 30, 2023. A major part of the content in ERIC includes peer-reviewed journal articles. However, the database also includes research reports, fact sheets, conference papers, books, and other non-journal materials.

During this recent period, there were over 4,500 views in ERIC of papers in the AERA Online Paper Repository and over 800 views and downloads of AERA-published books and research reports.

“ERIC is a wonderful, easy-to-use resource that can be beneficial to education researchers, policymakers, educators, and the general public,” said AERA Director of Publications John Neikirk. Through an easy-to-use and in-depth FAQ page, interested users can find help searching the database, tips for citing, online submission information, and much more.

The tables below show ERIC’s ten most viewed papers from the AERA Online Paper Repository and ten most viewed AERA books and reports during the first half of this year. For the repository papers, ERIC includes author names, abstracts, and links to the AERA paper repository, where users can download the papers provided by presenting authors at AERA annual meetings. For books and reports, ERIC includes similar information but also links for downloading documents that are currently open access.

“This report from just a six-month period points to the wide-ranging topics currently resonating with audiences, from LGBTQ issues to the impact of COVID-19,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “The highlighted papers and publications on these topics reflect the diversity of scholarship across our field and the value of access to diverse modalities of dissemination.”
