Starting in 2022, AERA will provide all members with free electronic access to its entire suite of journals, in an action approved by AERA Council at its June 25 meeting. If members prefer to also get print copies, they can purchase them additionally. By taking this approach, all members will receive electronic access to all AERA journals without cost, and they will only pay for print if they seek to have hard copies.

Currently, AERA members receive electronic access to Educational Researcher and one other journal of their choice; members also receive print copies of these journals. If they wish to receive additional AERA journals, they must pay $20 ($10 for students) for each additional subscription.

“We are thrilled to expand member access to AERA journals while advancing our green goals as an association,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “This is a big win-win for our members and for the protection of the environment.”

AERA will still offer print to members for a nominal fee per journal ($20 for members, $10 for student members for each subscription), and accommodations can be made under special circumstances. For example, for members who cannot physically use the web or state that they do not have web access, AERA will continue to send ER and one print copy of a journal of their choice.
