February 2024

AERA President Tyrone Howard and the 2024 Presidential Program co-chairs have developed 47 compelling presidential sessions that contribute to the 2024 Annual Meeting theme, “Dismantling Racial Injustice and Constructing Educational Possibilities: A Call to Action.”

The sessions focus on important topics and relevant issues that will interest attendees, such as considering perspectives through nuanced engagements with Black fatherhood, addressing racialized history and extremism across P–12 systems, and disrupting racial injustices in education through large-scale efforts.

A selection of highlighted sessions is below. Complete descriptions for all presidential sessions are available on the AERA website and in the program.  These sessions provide a sample of the rich content available for attendees at the 2024 Annual Meeting. More sessions will be featured in future AERA Highlights as the meeting approaches.

In addition to these sessions, the 2024 Presidential Address, titled “Examining Our Past to Imagine a Better Future: Recognition and Redress of Racial Injustice in Education,” will take place on Saturday, April 13, from 4:55 to 6:25 p.m. Learn more about the Annual Meeting theme on the AERA website.
