Final FY 2020 Appropriations Bill Increases Spending for Education Research, Provides Funding for Gun Violence Research President Trump was expected to sign two bills on December 20 that set final FY 2020 spending levels for federal agencies after Congress resolved proposed appropriations from the House and Senate. The LHHS conference bill includes $25 million to support gun violence research. Read more
White House OSTP Seeking Comments on American Research Environment—Deadline Extended to January 28 The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is seeking input on several areas of the production of scientific knowledge to inform the work of the OSTP Joint Committee on the Research Environment. President Trump to Nominate Sethuraman Panchanathan as Next NSF Director On December 19, President Trump announced his intention to nominate Sethuraman Panchanathan, the chief research and innovation officer at Arizona State University and executive vice president of ASU Knowledge Enterprise, to serve as director of NSF. Call for Nominations for the 17th Annual Brown Lecture in Education Research—Deadline: February 10 The AERA Brown Lecture in Education Research features important research that advances understanding of issues related to equality and equity in education. It was inaugurated in 2004 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision, in which the U.S. Supreme Court took scientific research into account in issuing its landmark ruling.
Call for Editors: RRE Volumes 46, 48 (2022, 2024)—Deadline: January 31 The AERA Journal Publications Committee invites applications for the 2022, 2024 editorship of the Review of Research in Education.
