AERA is encouraging members and friends of education research to make an end-of-year contribution to important AERA initiatives. The AERA “ask” is focused on vital sets of activities supported through the Second Century Fund and the Minority Dissertation Fellowship Fund.

“These funds are dedicated to building research capacity and to effectively connecting to policy, practice, and the broader public we serve,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “Every dollar counts in ensuring that education research remains a strong and trusted voice in a world where the presence of research, facts, and findings are more essential than ever before.”

While AERA dues support the continuing operations of the association, including programmatic emphases, donations and grants are essential to support initiatives that are major in scope, purpose, and visibility.

The Second Century Fund supports initiatives such as the Congressional Fellowship Program, the National Lecture and Discussion Forum Series, and the Early Career Scholars Communications Institute. For more than two decades, the Minority Dissertation Fellowship Fund has provided essential resources to support the dissertation research and professional development of outstanding graduate students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. Early fellowship recipients of this program are now active researchers and leaders in the field.

Primarily through an email campaign, AERA is seeking contributions to these two dedicated funds. AERA is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and contributions may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes. Donors should consult with a tax adviser.
