The call for submissions for the 2027 AERA Annual Meeting, which closed July 24, drew an enthusiastic response from the education research community. The number of submissions for next year’s convening in Toronto was the second highest since 2018.
The 2027 Annual Meeting will be held April 14–18 in Toronto. The theme is “Transcending Borders and Boundaries in Education Research: Toward a Beloved Global Community.”
More than 25,522 individuals were named on paper and session submissions as presenters, discussants, commentators, or in other roles. More than 3,470 individuals also contributed their time and expertise as submission reviewers. Notifications of acceptance will be sent on November 6.
“We are pleased to see such strong engagement from the education research community at a consequential time for science and higher education,” said AERA Executive Director Tabbye Chavous. “The response reflects the field’s continued commitment to advancing knowledge, engaging across perspectives, and producing research that serves the public good. Next spring’s meeting promises to be a vibrant and intellectually rich convening—one that fosters rigorous exchange, strengthens collaboration, and helps shape the future of education research.”
Additional meeting highlights and updates will be announced in the months ahead.
