June 24, 2025
I am writing to follow up on a request that you provide information on the cancellation of your NSF grant in April or May.
On June 6 and 9, the American Educational Research Association (AERA), in conjunction with other scientific societies and groups, reached out to PIs and Co-PIs of all terminated grants to learn about the impact and harms that the termination has had on your work, on those involved in these projects, and on those who benefit from your work.
The initial survey was sent through Survey Monkey, along with a unique link relevant to your terminated grant. If you are a PI or co-PI on multiple terminated NSF grants, you should have received an individualized link for each grant. While we have a strong response rate, unfortunately we know that many emails did not get through.
We are writing to let you know that another invitation was sent to you today (you should have received one email with a unique link for each of your awards). If you did not receive this message, please check your spam filter. If it is not in your inbox, please contact govrelations@aera.net as soon as possible, and we will be able to provide an individualized link for your grant(s). Please provide your NSF grant number(s) in your message.
AERA is undertaking this important survey to be able to comprehensively document the consequences of the termination of approximately 1,700 NSF grants. We urge you to provide your information as soon as you can, and ideally by July 10.
Thank you in advance for your assistance particularly in these challenging times. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Felice J. Levine, PhD (she/her) Executive Director American Educational Research Association govrelations@aera.net
