November 2024
In April, AERA will release the next edition of the Handbook of Education Policy Research, edited by Lora Cohen-Vogel (University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill), Peter Youngs (University of Virginia), and Janelle Scott (University of California–Berkeley). The book will be available at the AERA exhibit booth at the 2025 Annual Meeting in Denver; the table of contents can be viewed here.
The volume is a large, authoritative work with 80 chapters within the following sections: (1) The Implications of Poverty, Populations, and Schooling for Education Policy Research; (2) Disciplinary Foundations of Education Policy Research; (3) New Logics in Education Policy Research; (4) Methodological Developments and Applications in Education Policy Research; (5) The Politics of Education; (6) Policy Research in Early Childhood Education; (7) K–12 Education Policy; (8) Policies to Recruit, Prepare, and Retain Quality Educators; and (9) Higher Education Policy.
The volume will be available for advance purchase on the AERA website in March, in print, ebook, and print-ebook bundle formats. In addition, all chapters will have their own DOI numbers to make them more easily discoverable and citable. They will be available for sale as separate eChapters.
