AERA has released of the Spanish translation of the 2014 Edition of Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. Developed jointly by AERA, the American Psychological Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education, the Testing Standards address professional and technical issues of test development and use in education, psychology, and employment. It includes changes in federal law and measurement trends affecting validity, testing individuals with disabilities or different linguistic backgrounds, and new types of tests, as well as new uses of existing tests.

The Spanish edition is the first translation of the 2014 edition. Translations of the previous edition (1999) were published by non-US publishers on a contract basis. With the new edition, however, the Management Committee for the Standards (chaired by Linda Cook representing NCME, Frank Worrell representing APA, and Joan Herman representing AERA) agreed that AERA should serve as the publisher of the Spanish edition.

Cook noted that “the Committee is pleased that the release of the Spanish Edition will bring the Standards to a growing international audience.”

“We are very pleased to publish a Spanish edition of the Standards on behalf of AERA, APA, and NCME,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “We anticipate that this translation will be a useful resource to audiences in the Americas, Europe, and other regions throughout the world.”
