On June 19, the 2025 impact factors were released in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). AERA’s journals are included in the “Education and Educational Research” category, which now includes 756 peer-reviewed scholarly journals from around the world.    

JCR ranked journals by their 2024 impact factor, which is the total number of 2024 citations of each journal’s 2022 and 2023 articles, divided by the journal’s total number of articles published during those two years. Thus, as an example, the 2025 impact factor for RER is the average number of 2024 citations received per paper published in RER during the two preceding years (2022 and 2023).

RER received the highest rankings of AERA’s journals. Its impact factor this year, 7.4, was ranked ninth in the list.

AERA’s other journals had rankings similar to those in the previous year: Educational Researcher (ER) ranked 27th, with a 4.9 impact factor. American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) and AERA Open both had impact factors of 3.6 and were tied for 63rd in the rankings. Review of Research in Education (RRE) had the same impact factor as in the previous year: 2.4, with a ranking of 142.

Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis (EEPA) improved in the rankings, with an impact factor of 2.7, which ranked 120 in the list.

Finally, the Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics (JEBS) had an impact factor of 1.7, which was 260 in the rankings. JEBS also had rankings in the categories “Social Sciences, Mathematical Methods” (31st of 69) and “Psychology, Mathematical” (7th of 13)

In 2024, AERA’s journals collectively received their highest usage ever, with over 3.5 million downloads that year.
