Two AERA journals are ranked in the top 20 of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), released in June. AERA’s journals are listed in the “Education and Educational Research” category, which now includes 756 peer-reviewed scholarly journals from around the world.   

JCR ranked journals by their 2023 impact factor, which is the total number of 2023 citations of each journal’s 2021 and 2022 articles, divided by the journal’s total number of articles published during those two years.

Review of Educational Research (RER) is fifth in the rankings, with an impact factor of 8.3. Also in the top 20 is Educational Researcher at No. 12, with an impact factor of 5.4.  

As for other AERA journals, both AERA Open and American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) ranked 53rd with an impact factor of 3.5, and Review of Research in Education (RRE) and Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis (EEPA) also tied with an impact factor of 2.4, ranking 144th.

Finally, Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics (JEBS) ranked 212th with an impact factor of 1.9. JEBS also has rankings in the categories “Social Sciences, Mathematical Methods” (20th of 67) and “Psychology, Mathematical” (7th of 13).
