AERA has announced that the current editorship of Gongjun Xu (University of Michigan) for the Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics (JEBS) has been extended through 2027. Joining Xu for the extended term will be Minjeong Jeon (University of California, Los Angeles), who will serve as co-editor effective July 1, 2024. Jeon is currently serving as an associate editor (AE) for the journal.

Xu, who is also a previous JEBS AE, became a co-editor in 2022, joining Steven Andrew Culpepper (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign). Culpepper served as editor from 2020 to 2022 and then coeditor with Xu from 2022 to 2024. He will be completing his term through the end of the calendar year.

The extension for Xu and addition of Jeon were approved by AERA 2024–2025 President Janelle Scott and the board of directors of the American Statistical Association, which cosponsors the journal. JEBS provides an outlet for papers that are original and useful to those applying statistical approaches to problems and issues in educational or behavioral research.

Jeon’s research revolves around developing, applying, and estimating a variety of latent variable models for studying measurement and growth. Her research topics include respondent-item network analysis, dynamic feedback process modeling, and joint modeling of behavioral and biological process data. Xu and Jeon will continue to receive new manuscripts through June 30, 2027.
