AERA journals continued to rank among the leading publications in education research in the 2026 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), with six journals placing among the top 105 of the 760 peer-reviewed journals worldwide included in the “Education and Educational Research” category.

The JCR, released on June 17, ranks journals based on their impact factor—the average number of citations received in 2025 by articles published in 2023 and 2024.

Review of Educational Research was AERA’s highest-ranked journal, placing 15th with an impact factor of 8.6.

Other AERA journals also maintained strong standings. Educational Researcher ranked 38th (5.5 impact factor); American Educational Research Journal ranked 83rd (3.8 impact factor); Review of Research in Education ranked 126th (3.0); Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis (EEPA) ranked 135th (2.9); and AERA Open ranked 145th (2.8).

The Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics ranked 268th overall in the education category with an impact factor of 1.9. It also performed well in two additional JCR categories, ranking 29th out of 70 journals in “Social Sciences, Mathematical Methods” and 5th out of 13 journals in “Psychology, Mathematical.”
