The AERA 2026 election opened on January 21, with voting by electronic ballot currently taking place. The election extends over a 30-day period, concluding February 19, at 11:59 p.m. PST. All voting members are urged to exercise their right to vote.
The election includes candidates for the offices of AERA President-Elect, Council Members-at-Large, division officers, special interest group (SIG) officers, SIG Executive Committee officers, and Graduate Student Council officers.

Biographical statements of all candidates are included with the ballot. Bios for nominees for AERA-wide, division, SIG Executive Committee, and Graduate Student Council office are also posted on the AERA website.
All 2025 voting members of AERA and all 2026 voting members who joined or renewed by January 7, 2026, have the right to vote in the election. Voting members will have received an email from AERA’s independent election vendor on January 21 with a personalized link to access their ballot. The ballot is customized to include applicable election(s) according to the voting member’s AERA, division, and/or SIG membership(s). The personalized link will also be provided in periodic reminder emails to those who have not yet voted. Voting members who did not receive the election email with a link to their ballot should contact governance@aera.net.
“All eligible members are encouraged to vote in the 2026 election,” said AERA Executive Director Tabbye Chavous. “Whether you are a graduate student or a senior scholar, your vote is equally important to help shape the future of AERA and its divisions and SIGs in 2026 and beyond.”
The results of the election will be announced in late February.
