December 2025

The 2026 AERA Annual Meeting in Los Angeles will feature a robust lineup of 17 professional development and training courses spanning a wide range of topics in education research. Led by expert researchers and scholars, these offerings are designed to support graduate students, early career scholars, faculty, and other education researchers across public, nonprofit, and private sector settings. Full-day courses will take place on April 7, one day before the Annual Meeting officially begins, with half-day courses offered throughout the week.

This year’s courses provide training in both quantitative and qualitative methods, along with sessions focused on emerging issues, such as the use of AI in education research. Participants will explore foundational theory related to research design, data collection, and analysis, and will gain hands-on experience with new, cutting-edge analytic tools and techniques guided by leading instructors.

“We are enthusiastic about the variety and depth of the courses planned for the 2026 Annual Meeting,” said George L. Wimberly, AERA director of professional development. “These courses will provide graduate students, early career researchers, and seasoned scholars alike with opportunities to enhance their research and technical skills.”

Professional development courses can be added during registration under "Optional Events.” (Registration will open later this month.) Attendees who have already registered can add courses through the My AERA section of the AERA website. Course fees are $125 for full-day and $95 for half-day for members ($155 or $120 for non-members). Questions may be directed to profdevel@aera.net.

Full course descriptions with faculty lists, dates, and times are available on the Annual Meeting website. Early registration is recommended, as space is limited.
