December 2024
The 2025 AERA Annual Meeting in Denver will feature a compelling line-up of 13 professional development and training courses covering topics in education research design; quantitative, qualitative, and mixed research methods; meta-analysis; and other data analysis techniques. Some courses focus on analyzing specific datasets such as the High School Longitudinal Dataset, while others build research skills that can be used broadly across studies. The courses begin on April 22, one day prior to the start of the Annual Meeting. Led by an expert faculty of researchers and scholars, these courses are designed at various levels to reach graduate students, early career scholars, faculty, and other education researchers working in public, nonprofit, and private sector settings.
Courses such as “Harnessing the Wonder of Games for Educational Research” (PD25-07) will explore the intersection of game-based learning and educational research. The course “Building Skill with Narrative Analysis” (PD25-09) will help experienced, developing, and emerging qualitative researchers to build skills in using analytic tools within narrative research projects.
“We are thrilled to offer a robust lineup of courses for the 2025 Annual Meeting,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “The program will offer unparalleled opportunities for attendees at all levels to hone their research skills and elevate their work.”
To encourage participation in these in-person courses, AERA is charging members a modest fee of $120 each for the full-day courses and $90 each for the half-day courses ($150 or $115, respectively, for non-members).
Professional development courses can be added at registration under "Optional Events," once Annual Meeting registration opens later in December. Courses can also be added to existing Annual Meeting registrations in the My AERA section of the AERA website. Questions about the courses should be directed to profdevel@aera.net.
Full course descriptions with a list of faculty and course dates and times are available on the Annual Meeting website. Early registration is encouraged, as space is limited.
