April 2025

At the Annual Meeting this week, AERA will be offering a broad array of sessions with an international focus. Many of these sessions are sponsored by organizations such as the World Education Research Association (WERA), the AERA International Relations Committee, and a range of international aligned organizations.

On Saturday, April 26, WERA will sponsor two sessions: “Worldwide Education Research Priorities and Collaborative Opportunities From the Vantage of Education Research Associations” (chaired by Carolyn Herrington, Florida State University), and “Directions, Priorities, and Leadership in Worldwide Education Research From the Vantage of WERA Presidents” (chaired by Rocío García Carrión, University of Deusto). The sessions will take place back-to-back at 11:40 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in Room 207 of the Colorado Convention Center. WERA is an association of national, regional, and international specialty research associations aimed at advancing education research as a scientific and scholarly field.

The International Relations Committee is sponsoring 10 sessions on topics that range from African Indigenous knowledge and research to a session on “Global Struggles Toward Educational Equity: International Policy Lessons and Challenges.” International Aligned Organizations will also be sponsoring 10 sessions on topics such as unlocking the potential of struggling students in Flanders, teacher professional development in Ireland, and a two-part session titled “Bridging Divides and Building Futures: Educational Synergies for Equity,” from the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management.”

All of the above sessions can be viewed here in chronological order by day.
