April 2025

The 2025 Annual Meeting will feature a series of sessions focusing on important education topics relevant to Denver and its region. The speakers in the sessions come from nearby institutions, including Denver Public Schools, University of Colorado–Boulder, University of Colorado–Denver, and University of Denver, among others.

The sessions provide an opportunity for meeting attendees to hear from knowledgeable experts on issues that affect the Denver metro region, such as educational and residential displacement, often resulting from rising housing costs and school closures or restructuring; transformational education policy; and protection of immigrant students’ right to learn in the face of targeting from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

There will also be a site visit to ABC Community Hub at Paris Elementary School, which will examine how closed school spaces can be reclaimed for community well-being. Space is still available. To register, click here to access the Annual Meeting registration portal. To find the event, registrants should confirm their contact information and hit next, then open the drop-down menu labeled “Presidential, Division, Special Interest Group (SIG), Off-Site Visit, and Optional Events.”

“The Denver and the Region Spotlight Series is a chance for meeting attendees to hear from speakers about the educational issues and opportunities that affect the area we will call home for the five days of the meeting,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “Attendees are likely to come away with insights on issues that may affect their region in similar ways.”
