Mark Berends, Laura S. Hamilton, Luis A. Huerta, and Ron W. Zimmer have been appointed to a three-year term as coeditors of Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis (EEPA) for the 2013–2015 volume years.

Berends, Hamilton, Huerta, and Zimmer were appointed in December, concluding a process that began in July with a call for nominations, followed by candidate applications and Journal Publications Committee deliberations. As editors, Berends, Hamilton, Huerta, and Zimmer will be responsible for leading EEPA and continuing the excellent track record of this highly regarded peer-reviewed journal.

EEPA publishes scholarly articles of theoretical, methodological, or policy interest to those engaged in educational policy analysis, evaluation, and decision making. It is a multidisciplinary journal and considers original research from multiple disciplines, theoretical orientations, and methodologies.

The new editors have broad and extensive experience in research and publishing in the field.

Mark Berends is a professor of sociology and education at the University of Notre Dame, as well as director of both the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity and the National Center on School Choice. His research focuses on how school organization and classroom instruction are related to student achievement. Berends has served on numerous editorial boards, technical panels, and policy forums, as well as recently holding the office of vice president of AERA’s Division L (Educational Policy and Politics). She also recently served as a member of the Joint Committee to Revise the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. Hamilton has served on a number of national and state panels, as well as on multiple editorial boards and as program chair for AERA’s Division L.

Luis A. Huerta is an associate professor of education and public policy at Teachers College, Columbia University. He previously served as a research associate and coordinator for K–12 education policy research for Policy Analysis for California Education, as well as teaching for six years in California public schools. His research, which focuses on school choice reforms and school finance policy, has been published in a wide assortment of scholarly books and journals. Huerta has served on multiple editorial boards.

Zimmer has also worked at Michigan State University and RAND Corporation.

The new coeditors will begin to receive manuscripts on July 1 and will become editors of record in January 2013. They succeed Dominic Brewer, University of Southern California; Bruce Fuller, University of California, Berkeley; and Susanna Loeb, Stanford University, who complete their three-year term of service in 2012.
