July 2012

The incoming editors of Educational Researcher have announced their vision for the journal under their editorship. Carolyn D. Herrington, Florida State University, and Vivian L. Gadsden, University of Pennsylvania, will guide the highly ranked journal for the next three years.

Herrington and Gadsden outline their vision for ER in an introductory editorial published online in the journal. “Our vision encompasses creating opportunities for greater interchange between and among researchers, practitioners, and policy makers about both the problems in the field and the possibilities for change,” they write. “We invite manuscripts that cut across multiple theoretical and methodological models, that focus on the broad range of populations in educational institutions and communities, and that take seriously the uses and translations of research across different domains of scholarship and practice.”

ER is a benefit of membership for all AERA members. This online editorial is freely accessible to all.

The incoming editors also discuss their vision in a recent video interview.

Herrington and Gadsden began handling new manuscript submissions on July 1 and will become the editors of record in January of next year. Current ER editor Steven R. Yussen, University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, and his team will complete their three-year term of service in December and are now completing review of manuscripts submitted before July.

All manuscripts, whether new or revised, should be submitted through the ER submission website.
