The AERA Graduate Student Council (GSC) Nominating Committee welcomes recommendations of well-qualified individuals as potential candidates to run for GSC office in the 2026 election. The GSC plans and coordinates activities that advance the professional interests of graduate students in the association, based on policies and procedures approved by the AERA Council.

The offices open for the 2026 election are: 

  • Chair-Elect (three-year term: Chair-Elect 2026–2027; Chair 2027–2028; Past Chair 2028–2029)
  • Junior Newsletter Editor (two-year term: Junior Newsletter Editor 2026–2027; Senior Newsletter Editor 2027–2028)
  • Junior Campus Outreach Coordinator (two-year term: Junior Campus Outreach Coordinator 2026–2027; Senior Campus Outreach Coordinator 2027–2028)
  • Secretary/Historian (one-year term: 2026–2027)
  • Social Media and Website Editor (one-year term: 2026–2027)

Position descriptions are available here. GSC members are expected to participate in monthly Zoom meetings, to attend the AERA Annual Meeting, and to attend the fall Leadership Committee Meeting (LCM) in Washington, DC. Travel expenses for the LCM are covered by AERA.

Individuals may recommend themselves as candidates. Those elected will take office on April 13, 2026, after the conclusion of the 2026 Annual Meeting.

All recommendations must be received by 11:59 pm Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The slates of nominees will be announced in December, and the election will launch in early January 2026.
