Call for Nominations

Call for Secretary and Treasurer Nominations

Dear AAPI-ER Community,

We are pleased to announce that the AERA AAPI-ER SIG is now seeking nominations and self-nominations for the upcoming 2027 AERA election!

We are currently seeking candidates for the following two leadership positions:
  •  Secretary (Two-year term beginning after AERA 2027)
  •  Treasurer (Two-year term beginning after AERA 2027)
The nomination deadline is October 1, 2026.

Call for Graduate Student Representatives

Dear AAPI-ER SIG members,

We hope you are enjoying a wonderful start to the new academic year. We are opening a call for Graduate Student Representatives (GSR) for our AERA Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Education and Research (AAPI-ER) SIG. We are hopeful that you or someone you know will apply using the link below. Please feel free to forward this email to your network.

What the GSR role is:

  • The Graduate Student Representative serves a two-year term (2026-2028) as the connection between AAPI-ER SIG leadership and graduate students at institutions worldwide. GSRs meet monthly with SIG officers and with one another to plan events, webinars, and other educational opportunities for our graduate student membership. The work is collaborative and oriented toward building a SIG community that is genuinely welcoming, equitable, and culturally diverse, committed to rigorous educational research. GSRs host a graduate student social at the AERA Annual Meeting.

Who we are looking for:

  • Current graduate students at any institution who are committed to research with and for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. You can be at any stage of your graduate program, and no prior experience or attendance in AERA is required.
  • GSRs must be current members of AERA and the AAPI-ER SIG. Joining is straightforward: log in to the membership section of the AERA website at http://www.aera.net/ and add SIG membership at any time.

Application:

  • Applications are due on Friday, September 25. We will notify all applicants via email before or on Friday, October 9.
