Levine issued a statement on the association’s continuing concern for the thousands of children and their families who are living in trauma and experiencing the effects of “zero tolerance” and separation policies that render irreparable harm. AERA Names Two Congressional Fellows for 201819
AERA has named two scholars as AERA Congressional Fellows for 2018–19. They will spend a year in Washington, D.C., working on the staff of a member of Congress or a congressional committee, and use their research expertise to inform policy. Read more

National Academies’ Report Calls on Academic Institutions to Overhaul Campus Culture to Address Sexual Harassment
On June 12, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine released the findings of a comprehensive public report on the effects of sexual harassment on women in science, engineering, and medical careers. Read more
Trump Government Reorganization Plan Proposes Merging Education and Labor Departments
On June 21, the Office of Management and Budget released a proposal, Delivering Government Solutions in the 21st Century, to reorganize the federal government, which would include merging the Education Department with the Labor Department. Read more
Congressional Action on FY 2019 Appropriations Continues
The House and Senate appropriations committees are moving forward on FY 2019 funding, holding markup hearings on budgets for federal agencies that support education research. Read more
