April 2017

At its February meeting, AERA Council approved an extension of the association’s national lecture series programming. From November 2016 through April 2017, AERA held the Centennial Lecture Series, a six-city series of lectures and public forums, featuring prominent education researchers addressing major issues along with local policy leaders and event attendees. The Centennial Lecture Series wrapped up in Boston in mid-April.

With Council’s approval, AERA will hold an additional four public lectures and forums at locations around the country in 2017 and 2018.

“The model of public engagement developed through the Centennial Lecture and Discussion Forum Series to increase awareness of and interest in cutting-edge research that matters to local stakeholders proved highly effective,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “Public engagement constitutes an important part of our second century ambition. We are pleased to build on the success of the past six months to further expand our reach to other areas of the country.”

Details about the next series of public lectures will be released in summer 2017.
