The Philanthropy and Education SIG (SIG 148) has submitted to AERA  for  permission to offer the

Philanthropy and Education SIG Outstanding Research Paper Award.

Award Rationale:

To foster growth, collaboration, and diversity of thought in educational philanthropy.  As a smaller SIG, we hope this award will increase awareness of the impact of philanthropy on educational policy and foundations and the value of empirical research to this end.  The mission of the SIG is to bring together researchers at all career stages with policymakers and the philanthropy community to interrogate the historic role of philanthropy in education and develop research and collaborations that open up space for more equitable futures.  The award requested directly relates to our SIG's mission to create cross-network collaboration and emphasize the legitimacy of philanthropic research as critical to educational policy and practice
