Along with voting in Vivian L. Gadsden as AERA president-elect, AERA members selected several new AERA Council representatives.

Council Members-at-Large
Two other prominent scholars were elected to member-at-large positions on the AERA Council, commencing in 2015-2016. They will serve three-year terms.  

  • Sean F. Reardon, Professor of Poverty and Inequality in Education, Stanford University 
  • Shaun R. Harper, Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education, University of Pennsylvania 

Reardon will also serve on the AERA Executive Board. 
 
Division Vice Presidents-Elect
Four education researchers were voted as division vice presidents-elect and will join AERA’s 2016–2017 Council at the conclusion of the 2016 Annual Meeting. They will serve three-year terms.  

  • Division E: Counseling and Human Development
    Melissa K. Holt, Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology, Boston University 
  • Division J: Postsecondary Education
    Ana M. Martínez-Alemán, Professor of Higher Education, Boston College 
  • Division K: Teaching and Teacher Education
    Katherine Schultz, Dean of the School of Education, Mills College 
  • Division L: Educational Policy and Politics
    Lora A. Cohen-Vogel, Robena and Walter E. Hussman, Jr. Distinguished Associate Professor of Policy and Education Reform, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill 

Graduate Student Council
Kate M. Rollert, a doctoral student in education policy and administration at Michigan State University, was voted chair-elect of the Graduate Student Council (GSC) and will join the AERA Council in 2016–2017 as the GSC representative.
