The World Education Research Association (WERA) will hold its 2018 World Congress on August 3–5, 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa. This is WERA’s first freestanding research conference. Each year, WERA holds a focal meeting in partnership with a WERA member association.

AERA, a founding and active member of WERA, encourages wide participation in the World Congress. The call for submissions is now open with a deadline of January 10.

The meeting invites papers, symposia, and posters from submitters drawn to the opportunity to advance knowledge and foster a reimaging of education research with a worldwide perspective at its core.

“The aim is to bring the world education research community together at every career stage in presenting research that is international, comparative, or global in focus, significance, and reach,” according to WERA Secretary-General Liesel Ebersöhn and President Felice J. Levine.  “Workshops, open discussion forums, and related activities are also planned to further a network of research, communication, and exchange that can sustain itself beyond any one meeting.”
