Call for Nominations: Exemplary Dissertation Award in Workplace Learning

The Exemplary Dissertation Award in Workplace Learning acknowledges outstanding research conducted by individuals who successfully defended their dissertation within two calendar years prior to the submission deadline (December 31). The Awards Committee aims to recognize rigorous, relevant, and innovative research that aligns with the outlined AERA research guidelines (see AERA Research Guidelines).

Nominations Process: Nominations for the dissertation award should be submitted by the student’s dissertation committee chair, a serving committee member, or a faculty member in a similar advising/supervisory capacity. The nominator should be closely familiar with the student’s work and must provide a nomination letter accompanied by the required information and components of the dissertation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Individuals who have successfully defended their dissertation within two calendar years prior to the submission deadline (December 31, 2023).
  • The dissertation must primarily focus on topics related to adult learners in professional capacities, career development and/or transitions, training and development in the workplace, vocational education and training, and other forms of formal and informal learning associated with, or occurring within, the workplace.
  • The dissertation should adhere to the AERA standards for research conduct.

We congratulate Michael Goller on his new posting as a full professor and chair of vocational and business education at the University of Kassel. We have no doubt that his new role will bring new knowledge and experience to our SIG. 

We would like to extend our congratulations to Stefanie Findeisen on her appointment as a tenured Assistant Professor for the Professionalization of Vocational Teachers and Trainers at the University of Konstanz. We are eagerly anticipating her valuable contributions to our SIG.
