Welcome to the Vocabulary SIG!

The purpose of this SIG is to bring together scholars who focus on word knowledge and word learning. Over the years, the focus of the SIG has broadened to include scholars who focus on various aspects of language learning related to vocabulary and language comprehension. The SIG is meant to provide a community for scholars interested in these topics to share their research, receive and provide feedback, and forge new collaborations.

Please consider getting involved by:

  • Following social media (Twitter: @AERAVocabSIG or Bluesky: @AERAVocabSIG)
  • Reading and contributing to our newsletter with updates from the field
  • Submitting proposals to the SIG for the annual conference
  • Nominating mentors, colleagues, students, or yourself for the Notable Vocabulary Researcher Award or the Vocabulary SIG Student Paper Award
  • Volunteering for the service positions with the SIG
  • Coming to the business meeting at AERA to meet and greet colleagues
  • Signing up to be a member of the SIG each year and encouraging others to do so
  • Providing mentorship and support to fellow SIG members

The officers of the SIG look forward to connecting with you and supporting your work throughout the year!
