The purpose of the Learning Environments (LE) Special Interest Group (SIG) is to increase our understanding of pre-primary, primary, high school, college and university, and lifelong learning environments irrespective of subject area. `Learning environment' refers to the social, physical, psychological and pedagogical contexts in which learning occurs and which affect student achievement and attitudes. Pursuant to these purposes, LE/SIG sponsors a journal Learning Environments Research: An International Journal, published by Springer Publishers.
AERA Annual Meeting Participation: Learning Environments SIG welcomes proposals for the AERA annual meeting. In 2025, our SIG accepted 31 proposals of various formats (e.g. paper, round table, symposium, and poster session.)
SIG Publication: Learning Environments Research: An International Journal Learning environments research builds our understanding of the diverse contexts in which learning occurs. Apart from classroom and school environments, the journal devotes special attention to out-of-school learning environments such as the home, science centers, and television. New learning environments by information technology are also explored. The journal is published three times per year. The Carivate Impact Factor is 2.9 (2023); Scopus CiteScore is 5.2; and the journal is in the First Quartile of all journals.
