Esteemed Members of the Special Interest Group (SIG) 93,

It is with honor that I welcome you to the AERA Special Interest Group (SIG) on Research on Learning and Instruction in Physical Education. As the newly appointed Chair, I am thrilled to lead our community in promoting rigorous research and discourse that advance our understanding of learning and instruction in physical education.

Our mission as a SIG remains clear: to provide a platform for the dissemination and critical analysis of research on learning and instruction in physical education. We are committed to facilitating a community where researchers, educators, and students can share their work, collaborate, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

I am humbled to be working alongside such a revered executive board and our work as a new board is already underway. With that being said, one of, if not the highest, priorities for our executive board are to develop an engaging program for the 2025 Annual Meeting in Denver. We are dedicated to curating sessions that enhance the collective knowledge of our members and spur discussions on current issues in physical education research and practice.

As we prepare for the 2025 AERA Annual Meeting, themed "Research, Remedy, and Repair: Toward Just Education Renewal," we are reminded of our crucial role in contributing to educational justice and renewal. The meeting will take place in Denver, Colorado, from April 23 to April 27, 2025, and I encourage all members to consider submitting their latest research to our SIG. The Call for Submissions is now open and will close on July 26 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Additionally, our SIG membership is the lifeblood of our community, essential for our growth and impact. Each new member brings value and expertise, enriching the collective knowledge base of our SIG. Diversity within our membership not only broadens our perspectives but also strengthens the robustness of our discussions and initiatives. It is through the exchange of diverse viewpoints that we can address the complex challenges facing education today.

High membership is not just a goal; it is vital for the continuation and sustainability of our SIG and we recognize our community depends on active engagement and participation from all members. Therefore, I encourage you to prioritize extended invitations to colleagues, peers, and students who share our commitment to inclusivity and excellence in educational research.

Exciting opportunities are on the horizon for engaging in future SIG events. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements for ways you can participate, contribute, and connect with our SIG. In the meantime, don't forget to check our social media accounts for the latest news, updates, and discussions. I anticipate that our SIG platforms will be buzzing with valuable information, highlights, and opportunities to connect with fellow members.

I invite you to contact me directly at dixonc@rowan.edu to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions on how we can continue to strengthen our community and enhance our impact; please consider doing so. Your input is invaluable as we work together to advance the goals of our SIG.

I am grateful for the leadership of our previous Chair and the unwavering commitment of our members. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of knowledge and practice in physical education.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement.

In service,

Cory Elijah Dixon, Ph.D.
