AERA INTERNATIONAL STUDIES SIG 54

CRITERIA & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR GRADUATE TRAVEL AWARD

International Studies SIG encourages graduate students to join and to submit papers to our SIG each year! Those papers that are accepted for presentation at the Annual Meeting then qualify for consideration for a travel award.

AERA notifies successful authors around November each year of accepted papers. If you are a graduate student with an accepted paper in our SIG, consider applying for this travel award no later than January 5th.

AWARD: $500

CRITERIA

  1. You must be a member of International Studies SIG 54.
  2. Your paper must be accepted in one of our SIG sessions and you must be planning to attend AERA and present.
  3. All the required information should be submitted in one document and in either Word or Adobe pdf:
    1. Resume or Curriculum Vitae
    2. Financial need documenting the price of travel and associated expenses
    3. Your Accepted Paper

PAPESUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Use APA Publication Manual, 7th edition
  2. Abstract: 120 words
  3. Descriptors: Provide three words that best describe your paper
  4. Research Method: Conceptual/Theoretical, Mixed Method, Qualitative, or Quantitative
  5. Narrative Paper: 1500 - 2000 words
  6. Statement: Acknowledging “originality of submission.”
  7. E-mail one complete document to Julia Mahfouz (see below) of the Awards Committee no later than January 5 of each year.

NOTES

  1. Incomplete submissions will not be considered for review.
  2. If awarded, you will need to submit a copy of your AERA registration.
  3. The Graduate Travel Awardee will receive the award and certificate at our International Studies Business Meeting and be expected to present their research for no more than 10 minutes.
