Looking for ways to connect with the Technology as an Agent of Change in Teaching and Learning (TACTL) community? Whether you're a faculty member, researcher, graduate student, or educator, there are many opportunities throughout the year to share your work, build professional connections, and contribute to our SIG. Here's how you can get involved!

  1. Become a TACTL Member (or Renew Your Membership). Support our SIG by joining and maintaining your membership in TACTL (SIG #151). You can add TACTL when joining or renewing your AERA membership. Or, if you're already an AERA member, you can join by following these instructions: Log in to the AERA membership portal and select "Add a Division or SIG" to add Technology as an Agent of Change in Teaching and Learning to your membership. Follow the prompts to complete the purchase of a SIG membership.

  2. Connect with TACTL on LinkedIn. Join our TACTL LinkedIn Group to stay connected with fellow members, learn about upcoming opportunities, and share research, resources, events, and professional accomplishments. All members are encouraged to post relevant content, participate in discussions, and help strengthen our scholarly community!

  3. Stay Informed Through TACTL Newsletters. Once you become a TACTL member, you will be able to keep up with SIG announcements, member accomplishments, research highlights, and opportunities for involvement through our newsletters. Have news, publications, or professional opportunities to share with the community? Reach out to the SIG leadership team about contributing to an upcoming newsletter. Visit the Welcome section of the website to explore previous newsletter issues.

  4. Volunteer to Review AERA Proposals for TACTL. Help shape the scholarly program for the next AERA Annual Meeting by serving as a proposal reviewer. We welcome researchers with expertise across educational technologies, teacher education, professional learning, and diverse methodological approaches. During AERA's reviewer recruitment period, log in to the Annual Meeting online program portal and select the option to volunteer as a reviewer. Be sure to identify Technology as an Agent of Change in Teaching and Learning (SIG #151) as a unit of interest.

  5. Submit Your Research to TACTL for the AERA Annual Meeting. Share your scholarship with colleagues who are interested in technology as a catalyst for meaningful change in education! When submitting a paper or session proposal through AERA's Annual Meeting submission system, consider selecting TACTL as your receiving SIG. We welcome research addressing technology integration, teacher preparation, professional development, emerging technologies, and the broader ways technology influences teaching and learning.

  6. Serve as a Session Chair or Discussant. Contribute to thoughtful scholarly exchange by volunteering to chair or serve as a discussant for a TACTL session at the AERA Annual Meeting. These roles provide opportunities to engage with emerging research, facilitate conversation, and support fellow scholars. Watch for AERA's call for volunteers and indicate your interest in serving TACTL through the Annual Meeting online program portal.

  7. Explore TACTL Leadership Opportunities. Interested in helping guide the future of our SIG? Consider running for an elected leadership position when vacancies are announced each fall. TACTL leadership includes positions such as Chair-Elect, Program Chair-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, and Graduate Student Representative. Watch for calls for nominations and contact the SIG leadership team to learn more about available positions and eligibility requirements.

  8. Support the Proposal Review Process. As AERA proposal reviews get underway in late summer, additional reviewers may occasionally be needed. If you are interested in helping with reviews when unexpected needs arise, contact the TACTL Program Chair to express your availability and areas of expertise.

  9. Celebrate Scholarship Through TACTL Awards. TACTL recognizes outstanding contributions to research and scholarship through several awards, including the Early Career Scholar Award, Best Paper Award, and Graduate Student Travel Award. Consider nominating an eligible colleague, submitting an application, or encouraging graduate students to explore available funding opportunities. Award eligibility, deadlines, and submission requirements vary, so watch for official announcements.

  10. Participate in AERA SIG Elections. Make your voice heard by voting in AERA's annual leadership elections! Eligible voting members receive an electronic ballot that includes applicable SIG leadership elections. Your participation helps shape TACTL's leadership and future priorities. Keep your membership current to maintain your voting eligibility.

  11. Join Us at the AERA Annual Meeting in April! Connect with the TACTL community in person by attending our research presentations, participating in scholarly discussions, and joining the TACTL Annual Business Meeting. The business meeting is an opportunity to learn about SIG initiatives, recognize award recipients, meet fellow members, and share ideas for the future of TACTL. Help amplify our community's work by sharing conference highlights and connecting with other attendees through our LinkedIn group.

TACTL is a community shaped by its members, and there is a place for everyone to contribute. Whether you're sharing research, supporting fellow scholars, taking on a leadership role, or simply joining the conversation, we invite you to be part of our ongoing efforts to advance technology as an agent of change in teaching and learning.
