Welcome to the Lesson Study SIG! If you are starting to implement lesson study, an experienced facilitator of lesson study, or just curious about lesson study, this is your community. Our members show the power of lesson study by engaging various constituencies such as teacher candidates, in-service teachers, teacher educators, and administrators. By having discussions with others who are adapting lesson study to their own context, we are discovering how to center discussions around relevant issues of practice to improve students' learning opportunities. 

We hope that you become involved with our various activities including our monthly online conversations. Moreover, we hope that you consider submitting a proposal for the Annual Meeting, which is a wonderful opportunity to establish new connections and get new ideas.

I have been leading lesson study since 2013 with in-service teachers and teacher candidates. My work is in mathematics education. Sometimes, our teams have had to adapt lesson study in combination with video clubs in order to make lesson study viable. Our teams have also used animated vignettes in the "study of instructional materials" and "revision" steps for teachers to envision various ways to teach a research lesson. Through my engagement in the Lesson Study SIG, I have learned about other lesson study adaptations, theoretical frameworks for investigating lesson study, and research methods related to lesson study. More importantly, I have found a supportive community of people who are always learning together about lesson study.
