Plan your travel to arrive the evening of April 9th or early on April 10th so that you can join our Pre-Conference Mentoring Session!
The AERA meeting is an exciting time to share and learn through new scholarship, but it is also a valuable time for developing scholarly networks. This year the SIER Pre-Conference Mentoring Session will provide you with mentorship to think about networking—why it is important, how to develop networking skills and strategies, and how to make the most of networking at conferences.
The first hour will be designed as a workshop for you to build/refine your networking craft. The second hour will allow you to put your craft to work in a coffee/tea social hour with invited scholars, where you will have opportunities to network in small groups and one-on-one.
Image Description: A blue flyer has “Special and Inclusive Education Research SIG” and “Pre-Conference Mentoring Session for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars” at the top. “You're invited to attend this in-person mentoring pre-conference session hosted by the SIER SIG at the 2024 annual meeting. During this event, a panel of invited scholars will share their valuable insights and expert advice on academic networking, including its purpose, importance, and ways to improve your craft. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in a structured social hour where you can network with scholars and other attendees, making valuable connections in the academic world.” Images of Alfredo J.
