Message from the Chair:

Hello AERA Members,

The NAEP Studies SIG is dedicated to promoting NAEP research by building a community of stakeholders and researchers interested in NAEP. If you are conducting research using NAEP data, please consider joining our SIG and submitting a paper for presentation to our SIG for AERA Annual Meetings. 

Our SIG activities are designed to foster a sense of community and support. We host a business meeting at the Annual Meeting focused on NAEP highlights and news, host webinars throughout the year focused on NAEP research, and publish regular newsletters. We welcome your participation and look forward to your contributions.

We offer an annual Outstanding Paper Award. This award recognizes papers of exemplary conceptual, methodological, analytic, and writing quality that draw on NAEP data to advance education research or inform policy development. Membership in the NAEP Studies SIG is not required for consideration.

This year, we also started a Graduate Student Travel Award. Awards of $100 in travel reimbursement will be provided to three graduate students attending AERA 2025 in Denver. Membership in the NAEP Studies SIG is required for consideration. Preference is given to graduate students with NAEP SIG participation (e.g., proposal review), interest and experience in NAEP research, and strong rationale for attending AERA in 2025.
