The Research on Women and Education Special Interest Group was established in 1973 and has two purposes: 1) to provide a structure within AERA for the promotion of research concerning women and girls and 2) to provide a mechanism to facilitate communication among researchers and practitioners who are concerned about women in education at the intersection of class, gender, and culture.
