Welcome to the RWE SIG!

Chair:  Dr. Detra D. Johnson, Assistant Professor, University of Houston

Dr. Detra D. Johnson completed post doc research and work at Texas A & M University in the Educational Psychology Department where her research focused on English language learner literacy and language acquisition. She received her Ph. D. from Texas A & M University in Education Administration and Leadership. Prior to academia, Dr. Johnson worked as a classroom teacher, campus- and district-level administrator in urban, rural, and suburban school districts.  As an assistant professor at the University of Houston, she will continue efforts to examine school contexts that impact marginalized people of color, women, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Her research agenda has been advanced to include social justice and diversity issues intersecting with educational policies and politics, culturally responsive mentoring and coaching, and educator resilience and self-determination all which influence educator quality, effectiveness, and retention in our P-12 schools. Additionally, her research has been presented nationally and internationally.
