The Arts & Inquiry in the Visual and Performing Arts SIG offers a performative space for dance, theatre, poetry, performance art and visual arts. The focus of this SIG is to provoke dialogue, to challenge conventions, and to create a variety of platforms for alternative forms of inquiry, research, and scholarship.

The SIG was founded in 1999 by Mary Beth Cancienne (James Madison University) and Carl Bagley (Queens University, Belfast).
