ASL Services

Overview of ASL Services Provided

ASL interpretation is provided for all plenaries and select other major sessions (e.g., Opening Plenary, AERA Presidential Address, AERA Distinguished Lecture, Wallace Foundation Distinguished Lecture, Social Justice in Education Award Lecture, AERA Awards Ceremony) taking place at the Annual Meeting.

In order to maximize participation in substantive sessions, the exhibit hall, business meetings, on-site receptions, social events, and informal networking opportunities, excluding affiliate group events, AERA also provides ASL to presenters and attendees upon request, where such services are not already being provided. ASL interpreters will “travel” with attendees as requested throughout each conference day.

Requests for ASL Services

To request ASL services, please email access@aera.net by March 8, 2024 with the accommodation being requested and the dates and times you will be attending the Annual Meeting. To provide Interpreters an opportunity to prepare for the content of each session and to ensure that ASL can be made available for the entire session in advance, please provide as complete a schedule as possible to access@aera.net approximately one week prior to the conference. Interpreters can and will remain flexible to all schedule changes prior to and during the conference. Please note that presenters presenting in ASL may be asked to collaborate with their interpreters for additional preparation opportunities.

Additional Requests for Services

AERA can accept additional requests for ASL services on a limited basis and will honor such requests to the extent possible dependent on the availability of stand-by ASL interpreters.

For last minute ASL requests, please visit the AERA Accessibility Services Desk in the Registration area or the Interpreting Center at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Room 100AB.
