e-Lightning Ed-Talks at #AERA2026

Register for an informational webinar that will provide an overview and guidelies for developing your e-Lightning Ed-Talk. Sign up to attend the webinar here.

e-Lightning Ed-Talks at the 2026 AERA Annual Meeting are an exciting opportunity for selected poster session authors to also present their work in a rapid-fire and engaging format in the Exhibit Hall.

Ed-Talks are designed as 4-minute presentations, followed by 1-2 minutes for questions, and will take place at one of the two designated stages in the poster hall. Each poster session can accommodate up to 20 presentations across the two stages, scheduled during the same time slot as an author’s poster presentation. After completing the e-Lightning Ed Talk, presenters will return to their posters. The Ed-Talk stages include an over-sized touch screen monitor. There will also be a lectern with a laptop so authors can drive their e-Lightning Ed-Talk from the laptop if they prefer. A microphone will also be available.

Ed-Talk Guidelines

Below are some general guidelines and tips for those poster session authors selected to give an Ed-Talk:

  1. Arrive at your session at least 5 minutes before your Ed-Talk.
  2. An AERA staff member will be looking for you, but be sure to check-in with that person.
  3. At the appointed time for your Ed-Talk, please take the stage and open your i-Presentation from either the oversized monitor or the laptop on the podium. (The two mirror each other.)
  4. You will see all of the Ed-Talks in your session. Select your i-Presentation and then START your talk. Prior to beginning your talk, you will select OK on the screen to start the TIMER for the talk.
  5. As you take the stage and bring up your i-Presentation, the chair will introduce you and the title of your talk.

During your presentation:

  1. Your presentation is a maximum of 4-minutes and 1-2 minute for a possible question from the chair or audience and a succinct response; you should use no more 3 slides.
  2. At the conclusion your Ed-Talk, a pop-up screen will appear that says TIMES UP. Please end your Ed-Talk so that there might be 1-2 minutes of questions.
  3. At the conclusion of your Ed-Talk and question period, The chair will thank you and encourage attendees to go to your poster if they have additional questions or for conversation.
  4. Please return to your poster in the main session for further presentation and discussion.

Please view this e-Lightning Ed-Talk training webinar recording and the slides as you finalize your presentation.
