Welcome to the Improvement Science SIG website. I am honored to be the Chair for 2024-25. The SIG governance structure is that you are elected as the Secretary-Treasurer, in which capacity you serve for a year, then you become Chair and Past-Chair, each for a year a piece. Thank you to the the outgoing chair and current Past-Chair, Brandi Hinnant-Crawford for modeling how to lead the SIG.
We have determined the following priorities for 2024-25.
  • Continuing to develop our SIG identity

    • We would like to focus on amplifying the work going on throughout the field such as the Improvement Scholar Network (ISN) and “The future of improvement” HTH group
    • We would like to continue bridging research and practice.
    • We want to lead with a focus on people (people-forward).
  • Expanding SIG communication

    • We want to ensure that improvers from a broad range of continuous improvement strategies join the SIG and see themselves reflected on our goals, programming, and communication.
    • We would like to use the newsletter to spotlight improvement initiatives and learning communities.
    • We would like to intentionally use of social media as part of role of being amplifiers.
  • Growing SIG membership

    • We plan to conduct an inventory or network analysis of current membership to understand into what motivates people to join.
    • We would like to be ambassadors to help people see how they fit into the SIG.
  • Sponsoring events

    • We plan to continue to emphasize how to support early career/grad students.
    • We plan to increase outreach and support for symposium development for AERA, especially for early career scholars/ proposal writing sessions
    • We want to strengthen our emphasis on practitioners.
    • We plan to hold an improvers career panel to explore the range of possibilities.

Please feel free to reach out with questions, ideas, or concerns!
