Research Focus on Education and Sport

Each year SIG 164 awards three (3) awards in an effort to recognize our outstanding AERA members.  Below is the list of awards with a brief description. Award calls with instructions and application materials will be emailed out to the SIG during the award season.

Graduate Student Travel Grant Award

This $100 travel grant is presented to help offset travel costs for graduate students attending the AERA Annual Meeting. Applicants must be current graduate students, must be attending the annual meeting, and will need a letter of nomination. 

Exemplary Early Career Scholar

This award seeks to recognize outstanding scholarly work and/or contributions to the field of scholarship focused on the intersection of education and sport. Nominees should be in the early stages of an individual’s career (no later than 10 years after receipt of the doctoral degree at the time of nomination).

Distinguished Senior Scholar Award

This award seeks to honor a senior scholar’s exceptional body of work that has significantly impacted research in education and sport and the RFES SIG (SIG 164). Nominees should be in the mid-to later stages of their career (at least 10 years or more past the receipt of the doctoral degree at the time of nomination).
