Research Focus on Education and Sport

2016 AERA Graduate/Emerging Scholar Travel Grant

Description: The American Educational Research Association (AERA) SIG: Research Focus on Education and Sport (RFES), is providing competitive travel funds to graduate students or emerging scholars attending the 2016 AERA Annual Meeting in Washington D.C.. Consideration will be given to graduate students or emerging scholars who are: a) receiving limited or no other form of support, and b) traveling great distances to attend or experiencing higher costs. Preference will be given to first-time attendees and those presenting at the conference. Up to two travel grants of $200 each will be awarded.

Eligibility:

  • A member of AERA SIG: Research Focus on Education and Sport
  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in good academic standing or no more than 3 years removed from receipt of graduate degree.

Submission Deadline: March 1, 2016

Application Process:

  • Complete and return the RFES 2016 Travel Grant Application along with the following documents:
    • The abstract of the poster/paper you will be presenting at AERA along with the email confirming your participation from the program chair (if applicable);
    • Brief personal statement describing why you believe you should be funded through the RFES Travel Grant, why you are in need of a travel grant, how you will benefit from attending the 2016 AERA Annual Conference, and how you believe the RFES SIG is a good fit for you and your research;
    • The name and contact information of a faculty reference who would support your travel grant application.

Recipient Expectations:

  • Grant recipients are required to attend the AERA Conference and SIG: RFES Business meeting.
