Mission & Welcome

The Out-of-school time SIG provides a forum for researchers, practitioners, and graduate students to share, learn, and network around scholarship in out-of-school time teaching and learning; to provide opportunities to present and discuss relevant theory, empirical research, and practical wisdom; and recognize our colleagues for excellence in OST-related scholarship. The SIG leverages its platform to promote collaboration and dialogue across major OST stakeholders for community advocacy for the optimal development of young people.

Welcome from the SIG Chair
We believe that youth development programs play a critical role in the holistic learning and development of our young people. Through these programs and services that operate outside of the traditional school space, our youth are developing critical voice, becoming civic minded leaders and strengthening their academic skills. We hope that through this platform, we are able to build community across our sector and share valuable resources that enlighten and enrich our membership. - Jaynemarie Enyonam Angbah, EdD, Chair, AERA Out-of-School Time SIG
