Vancouver offers a multitude of cultural, culinary, and recreational experiences for AERA Annual Meeting attendees. As an international city on the Pacific Rim, it provides a unique blend of European, Asian, and First Nations influences.

Nothing conveys the city’s international nature better than its cuisine. If traditional fare such as Pacific Northwest seafood or Canadian poutine doesn’t tempt you, then look for izakayas (Japanese-style tapas), japa dogs, or Vancouver’s unique coffee creations.

You'll want to investigate the city's myriad options for entertainment and recreation: the Arts Club Theatre Company, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, outdoor activities such as bicycling, boating, hiking, and whale watching, and more.

AERA has arranged a selection of tours, including a city tour, a Museum of Anthropology tour, a Granville Island tour, a parks-and-gardens tour, and a Lynn Valley nature walk. Space is limited for these tours. Attendees may register or add a tour now. Preregistration is strongly recommended. Tours can also be added on site in the registration area in the Vancouver Convention Centre, Exhibit Hall A, Exhibition Level.

For other ways to experience Vancouver, visit the city’s welcome microsite for AERA meeting attendees. And be sure to check out the Show Your Badge initiative for special prices for AERA attendees. AERA encourages attendees to put away their meeting badges when outside the meeting venues.
